Sue Abbott

Susan was admitted to the practice of law in 1990. She began her career in a busy general law practice specialising primarily in criminal defence work. She represented a large number of clients in several jurisdictions facing charges ranging from traffic offences to murder.

She then ran a successful sole practice in the city before taking time out to travel with her husband and raise three gorgeous boys.

Since returning to full time legal practice 10 years ago Susan has specialised in the areas of Family Law, Wills and Estates and Personal Injury Claims. She is often briefed by the Commissioner for Victims’ Rights to represent the interests of victims or crime and provide them with a voice in various areas of the law.

Susan has undergone training in Collaborative Practice and finds great satisfaction in resolving post-separation disputes and damages claims without the need for the strain and cost of litigation. Should Court proceedings prove inevitable however, Susan is a fierce advocate for the interests of her clients and can utilise the services of a stable of talented experienced barristers with whom she works effectively and efficiently to achieve the best results possible for her clients.

Susan has been a keen sportswoman, representing South Australia in both athletics and hockey. She continues to enjoy competitive sport through her three sons as a spectator and supporter. She and her husband are also keen travellers and have travelled extensively throughout Australia, living and working for various periods in 4 different states while her children were very young.
